LIT FOR LIFE 2013 (DAY-2)

After the press conference at The Leela Palace. All the speakers and organizers moved to Mutha Venkata Subbarao Concert Hall at Lady Andal, Chennai. I must say Day-1 was a huge success. The count was huge. And I have earlier made a blog post of what happened on Day-1.

The expected inflow on Day-2 was totally high and some thought its hard to get a seat throughout the day. Thanks to the early morning showers. It poured in major parts of Chennai and that made it difficult to many of them to turn up for the sessions. I'm Glad I could make it to the venue on-time.
I waited for a good 15mins to make things clear and finally when I entered the Audi on Day-2 there are hardly 40 people inside and half of them were organizers. So I chose to sit very close to the stage so that I can have a good view of Ravinder Singh, Varun Agarwal and also Shreya Sharan.

Before the event got started they have shown some Advertisements of THE HINDU which I never bothered to take a look at. They were reasonably good. In fact I like the way the students were given a task of debating a particular issue with a perfect parliamentary behavior. Instead of debating the students starts fighting. And that's how Indian Parliament works.

SESSION-1:

THE GREEN ROOM (WENDELL RODRICKS INTRODUCED BY RANVIR SHAH)

Wendell Rodricks is a fashion designer based on western Indian region of Goa. He has been listed among one of the top 10 designers in India.

Wendell Rodricks in Conversation with Ranvir Shah.

Ranvir Shah introduced him and they went through the slides of Wendell Rodricks famous designs and he went on explaining how it all happened. Some Aha-moments he unleashed during the process. Majority are half nude and so I like them mad. Actually they were really good. Especially the Blue tank one. I loved it.

POP FRICTION (SIDIN VADUKUT, JUGAL MODY, RAVINDER SINGH WITH LALITA)

Sidin Sunny Vadukut is a columnist, writer and blogger from India. In January 2010, Sidin's debut novel Dork: The Incredible Adventures of Robin 'Einstein' Varghese was published.

Jugal Mody believes in fiction. Before handling web and social media for Filmfare and Tehelka, he worked in gaming. As a rule, he only writes to feel like a dog sticking its head out the window of a moving car. Toke is his first book.

Ravinder Singh is an Indian author. He has written two novels entitled I Too Had a Love Story, and Can Love Happen Twice?. Both of them are run away best sellers.

This conversation between these 3 writers is one among the lolifying conversations of the day. Sidin and Jugal Mody were at their best. They made hell lot of fun on-stage. People were just clapping and shouting for all the fun that has been made by these two.

WRITING FOR THE WORLD's YOUNGEST NATION (LALITA IYER, VEENA VENUGOPAL, VARUN AGARWAL IN CONVERSATION)

Varun Agarwal had mastered the art of tackling Indian Aunties in a whole different way. When ever Indian Aunties find him on-stage they were all geared up to take a full 200% revenge on him for his 1st published work titled "How I braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded a Million Dollar Company" which is a National Best seller and now in it's third printing.

This session was seriously set on fire when an old lady threw a bundle of questions towards him and the way he responded and the old lady isn't pleased with this response. And to make things worse an 21 year hot chick asked a new set of questions to varun and that's enough to make him irritated. He kept answering all the questions that are ahead of him and wonders why people aren't getting his point right. And to wind up the session Lalita unleashed the title of Varun's second book as "How An Aunty in a Blue Saree asked him a bunch of Questions". And it's a wrap.

COOKING UP A STORM: THE SECRETS OF GREAT FOOD (ROCKY SINGH, MAYUR SHARMA, CHEF DHARMEN MAKAWANA AND PASCAL DUPUIS IN CONVERSATION WITH FARZANA CONTRACTOR)

Rocky as the name says he just rocked the show. He came dancing on stage and started up in his own style. "Highway on my plate" And this conversation went about what makes a good restaurant and what makes Indian dishes differ from the other Countries. Funny part is that The Leela Palace Vs Delhi Street Food went on. And the audience were applauding for the Delhi all the way.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNER OF THE HINDU LITERARY PRIZE 2012

After calling up Nilanjana Roy and a few more on stage they started creating some kind of fuss between who is going to be the winner. By eating up some time and making the audience irritating enough they realized that its time for the announcement of the winner and here we go.

Jerry Pinto wins THE HINDU LITERARY PRIZE 2012 for his "EM And the Big Hoom"

Huge round of applause followed after the announcement of the winner. Much deserved prize for that man.

KINGDOM OF DREAMS

Shriya Saran enters the stage. Gooooossshhhh. She is damn Beautiful. More than that it's makeup that made her look so fair. Seeing her such close is always there in my wishlist and that's how it got fulfilled. Jerry pinto can't really help his joy for the win and he thoroughly enjoyed talking to Shriya and Sharmila Tagore.

Thus it started with My dear Bapu and ended with Kingdom of Dreams.

The event organizers came out to thank the audience and the speakers for making this event a huge success. Yeah. I agree it's a super hit. I can give a rating of 3.5/5.

And that's a wrap.

Thank you :)
